Dylan is going through a good phase right now. His sister Chloe is having test run on her thyroid so I guess he trying to be on his best behavior. He stood and peed on my living room floor yesterday. My fault I should have reminded him to go to the bathroom. Most of the time he will go to the rest room himself to poddy. He is healthy right now so we are happy.. Also not allot of crying. Crystal is worn out.First one kid then the other. She has wide shoulders that can carry allot of burdens. They are sagging a bit so cheer her up... right a comment to her or go to Dillysplace on facebook. Thanks . Or a simple prayer for Crystal and Chloe and Dylan.

A Simple Act

We headed over to Poppy's Pumpkin Patch. Some friends of ours own it. When we first got there, Dylan started to have a melt down in the depot where they have crafts. He jumped up in mom's arms and she carried him outside. Dylan is about 5 feet tall, maybe 100 lbs or more. Crystal carries him out and they go for a little walk around the property. He very very noisy, making alot of sounds. When I was finished shopping we traded places. We walked out back and they had a mule. A small work truck that pulls a cart for hauling pumpkins. Dylan climbed in it. Dean came over and took Dylan for a ride. He was so happy. He sat right next to Dean with a big smile on his face. When they came back and got out, Dylan went over and grabbed Deans hand and led him back to the mule. It made Dylan's day. He was so quite after that. And smiling. One simple act can change someones day. Weather you are autistic or just having a bad day. Stay strong Crystal. Thank you Dean!

New bathroom in the house.

Well Crystal and Dylan were over yesterday. Crystal took him to the bathroom telling him he needs to pee in the pot. I went in the spare bedroom and he had peed in the vent on the floor where the air comes in. Thank God for Clorox wipes. I guess he thinks any ole hole in the ground will work. He hasn't been playing in the hose as long since the weather is getting cooler.
Fundraiser coming up on Friday. 4:00 until we run out of food. Saturday, we will have a information booth and a little friendly competition. KU vs KSTATE. Who is your favorite team? $1 for a raffle ticket or 6 tickets for $5, your vote goes for your favorite team and will get you a chance of winning a KU or KSTATE blanket . There is also an other box if you have another favorite team and a chance of winning a motorcycle blanket with fire coming out of the back of the motorcycles.

Dylan

not a good morning manic and grabbing every boob he saw UGH! extremely defiant, silly, and just a plain stinker. went through a spit on the floor and he thought it was hilarious phase and I'll do everything but what you want me to do. I think it's a full moon tomorrow. Alison

Roughish day I'm so sorry to say but we may be starting our bipolar down swing. I hope not.... maybe it's the weather or moon or whatever is he being ornery at home more than usual? We had a few behaviors that required some fancy moves he may have some marks on his arms sorry Alison.

Dylan goes through these episodes and they are very frustrating. This was written by his wonderful teacher. Dylan is so blessed to have people who care for him and also Crytsal and Chloe.

My meeting with City Council

Well, I haven't really run into to many obsticles with this project. That was until I went before the city council to ask if Dillysplace could be put there. I felt like I was being grilled by a detective. HA. Anyway just need to get more information to them. Our city is almost bankrupt. So I can see their concerns. They are worring about what will happen in ten years. Who will be responsible for maintanace. The good Lord diddn't bring me here to leave me here. I just need to do my part and have some patience. If it doesn't work out we will just look for some land.

A wing and a prayer

Dylan is back in school and getting on a schedule again. He is getting so tall. Cleaned his room today. He had things hid in the closet that he 's not suppose to eat. Cheese balls ,cookie wrapper. cleaned under his bed found 6 sippy cups. and a couple things that turned my stomach. Held on with a wing and a prayer, got me through the worst. How Crystal does this everyday is so amazing to me. I love Dylan and would do anything for him but I wonder how high her stress level is daily. Called over there house this evening and Crystal was taking Dylan on a ride. He loves to ride around town with the radio blaring. When things get rough as they do alot, a little prayer and thanks for all we have and all we don't have. It could be worse. If ever I had a Hero , it would be my daughter Crystal, Dylan's mom.

Fund Raising

Crystal is planning a glow ball golf tournament in October. Wouldn't it be fun to play golf in the dark? It will be at Clearwater Golf course.Looking for Hole Sponsor's $100. Memorial hole sponsor's $50. Remember your loved one. not sure about the rest, will post as soon as I get the information. Taco feed in the park on the 25 th of September. 4-6 p.m. This is fall feast weekend. Everyone come out and support Dillysplace. We also will be selling Wreaths and Swags for Christmas. I decorate my dads grave every year with one of these swags. Let us decorate your loved ones grave. Or put it on your door. A special Thank you to my sister in law who headed up the candlew fund raiser in Florida. We love you Karen...

Dylan

Dylan's new thing now is to flush the toilet and put his hands down there and let the water cascade over his hands. Crystal swats him on the butt and tells him no and washes his hands. She said he just stares at her like mom I was only playing in the toilet... Dlyan has been sick the last couple of days. Just laying around watching tv. He was running 105 temp the first day. He is still running a temp but not as bad. Yesterday he had diarrea. Poor Crystal did laundry all day. It leaked from his pull up. What an awesome mom she is. Dylan couldn't have asked for a better mom. I took two of the granddaughters to a movie the other day. Dylan misses out on so much. We stoped by the Christian book store and got Dylan the new Veggie tale movie. When I handed it to him. He had a big intake of breath, got a big smile on his face and started clapping his hands. Crystal has this one memorized now too I'm sure.HAHA

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS.

I received a letter in the mail today, I would like to share it. My heart is soaring. Ms Kelly, A couple of months ago I came into Conway Springs and went door to door doing the Preaching Work as a Jehovah's Witness. I received some literature from you on behalf of your grandson & Dilly's place. with the intention of sending a donation. The economy hampered that intention which is why it took so long to get this to you. I am sorry it is not more. I have saved the literature hoping things improve and we can help more. My family's prayers are with you and may God Bless your endeavor. We Started Dilly'splace on faith. God led us here, he would see us through. Complete strangers from all over the country have been praying and donating to Dilly's place. God is Good.

NEW FUNDRAISING INFORMATION

Sorry everyone. Been a little under the weather. Haven't kept up like I should. Dylan is doing pretty well since he is out of school and not in his usual routine. He hasn't wanted alot to do with grandma lately. But he is stuck to mommies side like glue. Our candle fundraiser has gone great. Thanks to my wonderful sister in law down in Florida. She has taken on this fundraiser with a burning desire. She is awesome. Our local Mortuary gave us a donation. I'm hoping to get more sponsorship papers around. We will still be selling wish and Betty hamburgers in August. in September we will sell tacos in the park the last Friday of the month and also have raffle items. In October Crystal will run a golf tournament with glow in the dark balls! glow sticks everywhere. Sounds like a blast. We also will be selling wreaths and swags at Christmas. I put one of these swags on my dads grave every year. Lots of fundraisers. I'm hoping we have some kind of picture to show the city council soon so I can go before them and request some park space. Or some nice farmer will give us some land. so many here in Sumner and sedgwick counties will get some use out of this park. please be in prayer for this Thanks

Dylan and the heat

This has been a hot week so far.As long as Dylan is playing in the water outside he is fine. If he is just playing, we have to keep a close eye on him. 103 temp in Kansas. One of his meds makes him have a greater chance of heat stroke. How do you keep an autistic kid in a trailer for 24 hours a day? He loves it outside! It's so easy to take for granted our health. Until something like this happens. A friend told me all we every wanted for our kids was that they were healthy and happy. Who knew that one day this would come back to haunt me ? It has been well said that our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, butonly empties today of its strenght.

MAKING SOME HEADWAY

Hey everybody! We are applying for grants. Selling candles as our fundraiser. Going to wellington tomorrow and and dropping by some places and dropping off information on Dillysplace. See if I can get some funding and make some contacts. We met with Joel today on the park. Had a very informative meeting. Don't worry. Crystal, Chloe and I were on our best behavior.. Dylan is doing prety good right now. One more week of school and it may hit the fan. Whenever Dylan is taken out of his structured inviornment, He gets manic. Please say a special prayer for Crystal, Dylan and Chloe. Our new motto: LOVE MY CRAZY FAMILY. WE MAY BE CRAZY BUT WE ARE ALL THE FAMILY WE GOT. LIFE'S TO SHORT NOT TO HAVE FUN!

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON

I'm a true believer that everything happens for a reason! While shopping at Ashley furniture the man helping me told me about his friend that has a 7yr old autistic son. They don't have him in school, not signed up for any assistance...nothing. I gave him my buisness card and home email to give to her. I heard from her tonight. I am glad my crazy mixed up life can help someone see the light at the end of their tunnel!

I PRAY YOU ENOUGH

I pray you enough to sustain you. I pray you enough sun to keep you attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear. I pray you enough rain to appriciate the sun even more. I pray you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting. I pray you enough pain so that even the sallest of joys in life may appear bigger. I pray you enough gain to satisfy you wanting. I pray you enough loss to appriciate all that you possess. I pray you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appriciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them. TAKE TIME TO LIVE.

One day they are going to kick us out:)

As we sit in the parents house, finally enjoying their air conditioner, I can't help but sit here and recall the the past few weeks. And of course compare this summer to last summer. OK, lets start with last summer. We tested for allergies and seizures. He screamed, kicked, bit, and everything else imaginable... needless to say it was bad. This year he is manic, but manic happy! That is good! Destroys everything in sight and loves to flood the bathrooms, but happy! OK lets see if I can explain manic.... it when you get completely over excited and can't control how much you bounce and get wild about something...frenzied, excessive excitement or enthusiasm. All in all, yes thankful for a better summer so far this year! BUT, I am definitely ready for school to start, cooler weather to be here, and most of all a consistent schedule!

out of sorts

dylan was a little out of sorts today. crystal said last night he didn't go to bed until 11:30 up around 7:45. she was tire too. we wnt to the playground at sedj co. park dylan had fun i think he go hot tired thirsty or hungry. it's hard to tell since he can't tell us what he wants. he got mad when crystal went in the store. he jumped in the back seat and started pinching me and slapped chloe. when need to get rid of his aggressive behavior. hopefully it won't be like last summer. say a prayer for crystal and chloe and dylan...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH AND YOUR CHILD THREW YOUR CAR IN REVERSE?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOUR CHILD GOT OUT OF THEIR SEAT BELT WHILE YOU WERE DRIVING AND WAS MOVING AROUND IN THE CAR?
WHAT IF YOUR CHILD ROAD ON THE BUS WITH OTHER CHILDREN WOULDN'T YOU WANT _EVERYONE TO BE SAFE?
WHAT IF YOU GOT YOUR KID ON THE BUS, JUMPED IN THE SHOWER, HEARD THE BUSES HORN. HAD TO GET OUT OF THE SHOWER, WRAP YOURSELF IN A TOWEL AND RUN OUT AND GET YOUR CHILD OFF THE BUS BECAUSE THE DRIVER SAID IT WASN'T SAFE FOR ANYONE.
WOULD YOU WANT A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL TO HELP THE BUS DRIVER AND THE OTHER OCCUPANTS TO STAY SAFE.?
WHAT IF YOU HAD AN INDIVIDUALE EDUCATION PLAN(IEP) THAT REQUIRES A BUS PARA WITH YOUR CHILD BUT THE LAWS OF THE IEP WERE NOT BEING FOLLOWED? WHAT WOULD YOU DO? THESE ARE SOME THINGS THAT CRYSTAL HAS DEALT WITH OR IS DEALING WITH.

DYLAN'S TEACHERS.

I HAVE NEVER MET MORE COMPATIONATE WOMEN AS DYLAN'S TEACHERS. I KN OW DYLAN FEELS THE LOVE COME THROUGH THEM TO HIM. HIS TEACHERS NEED A BREAK, BUT I WISH HE COULD GO TO SCHOOL YEAR ROUND. IT SEEMS LIKE, WHEN HE GETS OFF OF HIS SCHEDUALE HE HAS A HARDER TIME. IF YOU KNOW A TEACHER, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY TEACH SPECIAL ED OR NOT,GIVE THEM A HUG AND TELL THEM THANK YOU. SOME TEACHERS SPEND MORE TIME WITH THE KIDS THAN THEIR PARENTS.

LIVE EACH DAY AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST

GOD COMFORTS US NOT TO MAKE US COMFORTABLE BUT TO MAKE US COMFORTERS. WE ALL HAVE HARD TIMES IN OUR LIVES AND WE MAY BE DISPARED. BUT REMEMBER YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. DON'T JUST PRAY WHEN YOU NEED SOMETHING.... BE THANKFUL WHEN YOU DON'T. THE BEST ANGEL TO APPROACH ANY PROBLEM IS THE "TRY ANGEL". DON'T WISH YOURSELF INTO ANOTHER PERSON'S PLACE, UNLESS HIS INNER LIFE IS BETTER THAN YOURS. GOD MADE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE SO HE CAN USE YOU JUST THE WAY HE PLANNED.

LIFE IS NEVER BORING!

Need someone to clean your house? at least the counter tops. Crystal got up this morning and Dylan had cleaned off the cabinets and threw everything behind her love seat. He's also good at cleaning out purses. he emptied her whole purse out behing the chair. He loves to climb in the washer. when he was little he tried when it was running so she had to put a lock on it. He likes to clean out the car as you are driving. By throwing things out the window. When he was young we went to worlds of fun(NEVER AGAIN). he was going through a shredding phase. We GAVE HIM THE SUNDAY PAPER AND LET HIM SHRED IT FOR THE FOUR HOUR TRIP. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN US WHEN WE STOPPED TO GO TO THE RESTROOM PAPER FLYING OUT, US CHASING IT.ha ! We had to make sure our money was where he couldn't get to it, He would shred it in small pieces... We put together many ones, fives, tens, twenties. The girls at the bank knew what was in store when one of us walked in. Thank you conway bank girls. Dylans good at cleaning the bathroom too. instead of having our shampoo and conditioner and shower gel sitting around, Dylan will pour it over him ,in his mouth or down the drain. If anyone has any that they don't like, send it Dylans way. Every day in Dylans life has been a surprise... life is never boring with him. Dylan had my sunglasses on today and Chloe told him he looked cool , he said ya.!!!

DYLAN'S HERE FOR A REASON

WE NEVER KNOW WHAT EACH DAY BRINGS WITH DYLAN... OK GUYS I WILL TELL YOU WHAT MY DAY WITH DYLAN WAS REALLY LIKE. IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH DON'T READ THIS ONE. WE WATCHED DYLAN THE DAY OF CRYSTAL'S GALLERY OPENING FOR HER PRE -SCHOOL.DYLAN HAD A GREAT DAY, HE EVEN WENT TO POOP ON HIS OWN;)YEA! MARK WENT INTO THE BATHROOM TO CHECK ON DYLAN AND HE WAS TRYING TO WIPE. HE WENT OVER TO HELP HIM. WELLLLLLL MY NEPHEW WAS COMING HOME FROM IRAQ AND THEY CHANGED HIS TIME SO I JUMPED IN THE SHOWER , GOT OUT AND NOTICED A TOWEL WADDED UP ON THE CLEAN TOWELS. I FIGURED SOMEONE DYED THEIR HANDS WITH IT. I PICKED IT UP AND STARTED TO DRY MYSELF OFF WITH IT. WHEN IT GOT TO MY FACE I SMELLED SOMETHING. DYLAN HAD TRIED TO WIPE HIMSELF WITH IT. MARK THOUGHT THIS WAS SOOOO FUNNY. I TOLD DYLAN HE WAS LUCKY GRANDMA LOVED HIM. THIS WAS NOT WITTEN ON HERE TO HUMILIATE DYLAN OR GROSS ANYONE OUT BUT TO BE HONEST AND TELL YOU THAT THEIR ARE ALOT OF THINGS YOU DEAL WITH WHEN YOU HAVE A DISABILED KID OR GRANDKID. IT'S FUNNY NOW. NOT ALOT OF PEOPLE WOULD ADMIT TO THIS BUT THIS IS OUR LIFE. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE THE ONE DRYING OFFF? 80% OF COUPLES DIVORCE BECAUSE SOMEONE CAN'T HANDLE THE PROBLEMS WITH A DISABLED KID. GOD SENT DYLAN HERE FOR A REASON! AND WE ARE BETTER PEOPLE BECAUSE OF HIM. LET'S HELP DYLAN FORFILL HIS MISSION ON EARTH BUT IN THE MEANTIME PRAY FOR CRYSTAL, DYLAN AND CHLOE.

AUTISIM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Let me tell you a little about Autism. Autism is a Spectrum Disorder, which means their are alot of different symptoms and behaviors. no two autistic kids are alike. 1 in 150 kids will get autism. boys are 4 x more likely to become autistic than girls. There are over one million people with autisim in the USA. Each has a variety of abilities and challenges. expressing emotions are hard, some think in pictures so they learn with visual helpers. Most have trouble making eye contact. They have alot of issues with their senses. seeing, they notice everything so its hard to concentrate. They have amplified hearing, the volume is set to high, thats why you see autistic kids covering their ears alot.Touch, they touch when they want, someones touch is sometimes an overload to their bodies. Smell, Their sense of smell is overwelming sometimes, where it can even make them sick. Taste, texture, look, taste all effect them. They may like something one day, but the next, forget it! It's hard for them to look you in the eye and listen at the same time. They can see what thaey want but can't get it out and they get frustrated. Autisim isn't a tradgedy, ignorance is. A couple sayings I like. stare if you must, I'm not paying attention anyway. Non verbal not dumb. staring won't cure my autisim. disipline doesn't cure autisim. walk a mile in my shoes, or my moms or my sisters.

Did you know?

Autism knows no racial, ethnic, social boundaries, family income, lifestyle, or educational levels and can affect any family, and any child.

Dilly

Who would have thought that an autistic kid who has troubles with food textures, isn't crazy about cold things in his mouth, would lay in the snow and eat it. Dylan's life changes day to day. and so does ours.

Dilly's place

Met with a man named Joel who deals with playgrounds. , Crystal put an offer down on a house. , Everyone seems healthy at the moment, Was on the radio yesterday. B98. Yesterday was National prayer day. Asked everyone to pray for SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS, THIER FAMILYS AND THEIR TEACHERS. Also that we were building a park in honor on Dylan for every kid. They told me to stay in touch and they would give us some good press. Gona have a big party the day Dillys place opens.

Dylan's new buddy

Do you believe in chance or devine intervention? I believe God puts people in our lives to help us through different journeys. Dylan has a dog. This isn't a person but a soul who Dylan is playing with!. Dylan plays with kids sometimes. Usually ignores animals. He chases this dog, this dog chases him. Dylan's mom said," Dylan was just laying on his belly, arms folded in front of him watching this dog . It looks like a hairy wolf. If this dog helps dylan with social skills or if he finds another friend.... Wouldn't that be great.
